Hi, I am Zack.
I am a born-again follower of the Lord Jesus, who is Christ the Messiah and savior of the World.
I am here to help someone with the way the Church, and it’s members, react sometimes to the world, their actions, their culture and their sinful nature. I am wanting us, the followers of Christ Jesus, to keep things in perspective and to understand the latest and greatest blasphemy or abomination displayed by a lost and fallen world is not as grievous to our heavenly father as you might think.
Case in point, the Olympics in Paris and the obvious hedonistic theme the international games has cloaked themselves. Actors and dancers openly display themselves on stage and on camera where they are partially naked and scantily dressed, even to the point where they are exposing genitalia. A well-rehearsed mockery of the Lords last supper as it was portrayed in a painting by Leonardo da Vinci created an international outcry against the opening ceremonies. Plus many more offenses to the Christian soul.
My brothers and sisters who are offended by this let me ask you a simple question, “Why now?”
Yes, why now?
I rarely see the moral outrage at YouTube for being the platform that many ungodly people use to promote everything from devil worship to pedophilia. Where is the marching in the streets against Netflix for having regular programing which is nothing less than soft porn? What about all the shows on prime which exalts all of the ungodliness which Paul lists in his epistles?
Let’s bring this home.
Why are you still watching football, baseball, or anything else which uses the bodies of beautiful young women to entice and attract the lusts of men and the covetous desires of women? What is it about the good old American sports decadences that make it acceptable in the eyes of the church but when they are flashed at the Olympics you have a cow?
Give the Olympics a rest.
The Olympics was never created for the entertainment of the body of Christ.
“The first written records of the ancient Olympic Games date to 776 B.C., when a cook named Coroebus won the only event—a 192-meter footrace called the stade (the origin of the modern “stadium”)—to become the first Olympic champion. However, it is generally believed that the Games had been going on for many years by that time. Legend has it that Heracles (the Roman Hercules), son of Zeus and the mortal woman Alcmene, founded the Games, which by the end of the 6th century B.C had become the most famous of all Greek sporting festivals.”
“The ancient Olympics were held every four years between August 6 and September 19 during a religious festival honoring Zeus. The Games were named for their location at Olympia, a sacred site located near the western coast of the Peloponnese peninsula in southern Greece. Their influence was so great that ancient historians began to measure time by the four-year increments in between Olympic Games, which were known as Olympiads.”
Thank you, history-dot-com.
The Olympics was quite often the entertainment designed to glorify man, his abilities, his prowess, and his design. It was rampant secular humanism which always sought to fulfill the lust of the eyes, the lust of the flesh and the pride of life.
It was a paganistic festival full of idol worship, gluttony, drinking, and orgies.
It was never considered a place in which anyone who had a heart for the living God would remotely think it to be an acceptable place for their devotion to Jehovah and His son Jesus.
The Olympics has become more acceptable as the decades have slipped by us. We have used this international event to promote political ideologies, social “so-called” justice, personal agendas and let us not forget the number one objective … revenue! It is a billion-dollar industry designed to increase the bank accounts of the supporters, planners and promoters of the games.
Brothers and sisters in Christ, I find most of this moral outrage displayed by the “holy offended” a spectacle of hypocrisy.
Why are you raging at the world for being the world? Why are you not raging at yourself? The world is void of the light, the Lord Jesus! You, who are born again, have the light in you! Why are you not outraged by the immorality allowed within the walls of the sanctuaries of our churches? Why are you timid when you see young women coming to stand before a holy God dressed like a temple prostitute? Where is the power of the holy spirit when you know your brothers are pretending to be righteous on Sunday but cant be differentiated from the filthy mouthed, womanizing, stealing, lying unsaved lost men they work with each day?
I am not outraged by the Olympics. I am offended at their portrayal of the Lord’s supper because the last supper of my Lord is where He initiated the New Covenant with his disciples and ushered in the forgiveness of mankind through His death on the cross the very same day! Just as I am offended by all of the sin of the world.
Sin keeps people from knowing the love of God and God loves people. He loved us before we loved Him. God’s love made a way for us to find a relationship with Him!
Do you condemn a dog for barking? No because that is what dogs do.
Do you condemn a baby for crying? No, because babies cry.
Do you condemn a sinner for sinning? No, sinners sin, it’s their nature.
Tired of seeing ungodliness in the world?
Then get off your sweet by and by’s and tell people about the goodness of God in the gospel of the Lord Jesus! Tell them about salvation! Tell them about redemption! Tell them about the almost too good to be true news their sins have been forgiven and they can have eternal life!
Paul says it is the goodness of God that leads us to repentance!
Church, the actions of the Olympic committee in commissioning the opening pageantries and the lasciviousness of the event was without a doubt offensive to me. It was not a firsthand experience for me though.
Why?
Because I don’t watch the Olympics!
I don’t have the mind to try to filter out all of the dark ungodliness they try to promote in their programming. This is the reason I don’t watch professional baseball, professional football, or professional sports and I have given up most all of collegiate sports as well. They have no place in my heart when my heart belongs to my Lord!
Church, it’s time to get real with God! Quit riding the fence! Are you a member of the family of God or are you a member of the house of sin?
